Staff Editors

Gianna Rossi, Staff Editor 

Gianna is a second-year law student at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. She is from Arvada, Colorado. Gianna attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she graduated with degrees in Philosophy, Italian, and Political Science.

Before coming to law school, Gianna worked for over a year in a large law firm as a file clerk while in college. She worked primarily with family law attorneys and solidified her desire to attend law school and become an attorney. Additionally, Gianna worked throughout her college career in many different industries including hospitality, retail, and marketing.

In addition to being a Staff Editor for the Sports & Entertainment Law Journal, Gianna is a member of the First-Generation Law Students Alliance, and is an intern at the Colorado State Public Defender Office in the Denver Juvenile division. Gianna is interested in working in criminal law, or corporate transactional law.

Outside of law school, Gianna enjoys snowboarding, running, and reading. She also loves spending time with her dog, Buster.

Talia Chiarelli, Staff Editor 

Talia is a third-year law student at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. She is from Ottawa, Canada, but calls Boston her home. Talia attended the University of Michigan for her undergraduate degree, where she majored in Sport Management in the School of Kinesiology. 

Growing up, Talia was a gymnast on the Canadian National Team, and was part of the University of Michigan’s team during college. Prior to law school, Talia worked at a sports and entertainment company in Edmonton, Alberta. Throughout law school, Talia has explored many different areas of the law at different firms and workplaces. She would love to combine her love of sports with her law career, hopefully working in a transactional or regulatory capacity. 

Outside of law school, Talia loves running, baking, and making charcuterie boards with her friends. She also loves being by the ocean, where she usually spends the summer. 

Graham Hill, Staff Editor 

Graham is a second-year law student at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. He is from Plano, Texas. Graham attended the University of Arkansas, where he graduated with a degree in Political Science.

In addition to being a Staff Editor for the Sports & Entertainment Law Journal, Graham is a member of the Business Law Society and International Law Society. Graham is interested in working in corporation transaction or litigation.

Outside of law school, Graham enjoys taking Muay Thai classes and playing tennis. He also loves music and attending concerts.

Austin Richards, Staff Editor 

Austin is a second-year law student at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. He is from Pueblo, Colorado. Austin attended the University of Denver, where he graduated with degrees in Political Science and Sociology.

Before coming to law school, Austin worked in the marketing department of Morrison & Foerster LLP, where he designed client-tailored pitch books, presentations, brochures, and Request for Proposal (RFP) responses for a multinational law firm with more than 1,000 attorneys across 17 offices.

In addition to being a Staff Editor for the Sports & Entertainment Law Journal, Austin is a member of the National Trial Team and Student Trial Lawyers Association. Austin is interested in litigation and hopes that his career can overlap with his love for sports.

Outside of law school, Austin enjoys following the N.B.A. and N.F.L., hiking, and watching critically acclaimed films and television.

Jeff Clarke, Staff Editor 

Jeff Clarke is a second-year student at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. He is from Boulder, Colorado. Jeff attended Santa Barbara City College and the University of Colorado, where he graduated with a Political Science degree.

In addition to being a Staff Editor for the Sports & Entertainment Law Journal, Jeff is a member of the DU Law Baseball Arbitration Team, which competes at the Tulane International Baseball Arbitration Competition. He is also an intern in the Colorado Senate. Jeff is interested in practicing civil litigation.

Outside of law school, Jeff enjoys skiing, golfing, reading, and Denver Broncos football.

Ashlyn Hare, Staff Editor 

Ashlyn is a first-year law student at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. She is from Colorado Springs, Colorado. Ashlyn attended the University of Oregon, where she graduated with a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Sports Business, and was also a member of the Division I University of Oregon Track and Field team, where she competed as a high jumper.

Ashlyn worked at Nike World Headquarters for two summers during undergrad, first as an intern and then as a Project Coordinator in Marketing Operations. Additionally, she was a Teaching Assistance for core business classes and a Tutor in the Jaqua Academic Center for Student-Athletes, as well as holding a leadership position on the University of Oregon’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and serving on the Pac-12 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

In addition to being a Staff Editor on the Sports & Entertainment Law Journal, Ashlyn is a 1L Representative for the Sports & Entertainment Law Society, and a member of the 1L Public Good Program. She is interested in working in sports law, particularly in areas involving Title IX, civil rights, and athlete advocacy.

Outside of law school, Ashlyn is interested in hiking with her dogs, coaching track and field, yoga, weightlifting, running, and painting.

Talia Marquez, Staff Editor 

Talia is a first-year law student at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. She is from Arvada, Colorado. Talia attended the University of Kansas, where she was a member of the Track & Field team and graduated with degrees in Journalism and Business.

Before coming to law school, Talia worked for a nonprofit in Denver coordinating events between professional sports teams and assisted living communities. Talia worked throughout her college career in many different capacities.

In addition to being a Staff Editor for the Sports & Entertainment Law Journal, Talia is a member of the Latinx Law Student Association. Talia came to law school inspired to make a difference. She feels passionately about anti-discrimination law and of course, sports.

Outside law school, Talia enjoys spending time with her family, snowboarding, and watching lots of football. Into all things fashion, Talia often designs her own clothes. She also loves to read, about things other than the law. Her favorite book is the Magic Strings of Frankie Presto.

Nat Gillard, Staff Editor 

Nat is a first-year law student at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. She is originally from Toronto, Canada. Nat graduated from Carleton College this spring, where she majored in Political Science and International Relations and minored in Women’s and Gender Studies.

At Carleton, Nat worked for the college’s Off-Campus Studies Office and the Recreation Center. She was a member of the women’s varsity soccer team and club lacrosse team. Nat previously worked with the Canadian Red Cross in assisting refugees arriving to Canada. Her most exciting job was working onsite for NBC Sports at the 2018 Super Bowl in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Outside of law school, Nat enjoys running, hiking, and scuba diving. She also loves watching professional sports and listening to podcasts in her free time.

Matt Ziebarth, Staff Editor 

Matt is a second-year law student at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. He is from Cambridge, Minnesota. Matt attended Concordia College, where he graduated with degrees in Accounting and Finance.

Before coming to law school, Matt obtained his CPA, and he worked for eighteen months at Cargill as a Financial Analyst for their global animal nutrition group, and then for two years at Target as a Supply Chain finance risk consultant.

In addition to being a Staff Editor for the Sports & Entertainment Law Journal, Matt is a business editor of the Transportation Law Journal, the treasurer for the DU Law Democrats, and a member of the Business Law Society. Matt is interested in working in corporate transaction law in either mergers and acquisitions or taxation.

Outside of law school, Matt enjoys playing hockey, hiking, skiing, watching movies, and watching his beloved Minnesota sports teams and Tottenham Hotspur lose in devastating fashion.
